Newly Renovated Lanterra Design Centre
Sue Ferrigamo is the Design Centre Manager at Lanterra Developments Ltd. and works with clients to find the perfect finishes and fixtures for their new condo suites. We spoke to her about what customers can expect when visiting the newly renovated Design Centre.
Q: Tell us about the recent Design Centre renovation, and the changes/improvements that were made?
We recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation of the Design Centre. The new space was designed by the award-winning Toronto firm Studio Munge with the intention of making Lanterra purchasers feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home. There are private consultation rooms where the colour selection process takes place, and a comfortable sitting area to enjoy a beverage while considering the finishing options for the suites.
Q: Can you describe the layout of the Design Centre and different “selection” rooms?
The Standard and Upgraded finishing options are presented within each of the selection rooms. There are several colour palettes, which include choices for wood flooring, porcelain and marble tile, countertop materials such as granite, quartz and marble, and upscale offerings for cabinetry and other finishing details. The colour palettes are project-specific and have been carefully selected to reflect the aesthetic of the project.
Q: What can the consumer expect when selecting suite finishes i.e. the process
We will “walk” you through the suite, room-by-room, to explain the Standard features that are included. We will also make recommendations on how to embellish your suite, or add special touches that will make it truly your own and add to its lasting value.
Q: Why is the selection done so far in advance?
While the building is under construction, there are mechanical and structural components which are fixed once completed. With the magnitude of a high-rise building and the volume of suites, we start on the lowest floors and work upwards in order to be ahead of construction. The earlier the information is relayed to the Trades and fabricators, the more time there is to secure material and ensure quality workmanship.
Q: How are design trends reflected in the finishes?
The design team is attuned to trends in the marketplace. Every effort is made, in collaboration with the suppliers, to bring to you the fresh, contemporary colours and textures that appeal to a variety of tastes.
Q: What are some upgrades to consider that would add the greatest day to day impact on lifestyle and value to the suite?
Wood or tile flooring is always a wise investment, as it is highly disruptive to change at a later date. Countertops and a kitchen backsplash can also make a huge impact for a relatively small upcharge, and when these finishes are done by the Builder the warranty is not compromised. Window treatments are also a necessary element that can be purchased at the colour appointment. This can save you the time and inconvenience of waiting until occupancy to arrange for window coverings.
Q: What do you recommend in preparation for my appointment?
If you have an idea of what you like, or if you have a collection of photos and images of interiors that appeal to you, you can share this with the Designer during your appointment. You can also choose colours that complement any artwork, furniture or other special items in your home. If you are unsure, there is no need to worry. The Design Team at Lanterra is here to guide you in making the appropriate decisions.
Q: How do I set-up an appointment?
You will be contacted by email and/or phone to set up an appointment at the Design Centre once we have reached the floor level of your suite. We will coordinate a time with you that is mutually suitable. The appointment is scheduled for 1 hour, within the hours of 10am – 3pm Mon-Thurs., 10am-noon Fridays.
