Lanterra Developments has always had an interest in our community and in giving back to a number of local and global charities that benefit both health-related and underprivileged humanitarian causes.
Since the company’s inception, we have privately supported and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to different charities. In 2012, we launched a new public charity and humanitarian campaign, benefitting different charities both around the world and right here in our neighbourhood. Lanterra’s passion for providing people with new, sustainable homes, using energy-saving equipment for our future, and investing in the future of people locally and globally, gave rise to this charity initiative. Since the beginning of our charity initiative in mid-2012, our staff has participated in numerous charitable and fundraising events, and we welcome you to see our works below.

North York Harvest Food Bank Open or Close
Lanterra has partnered with North York Harvest Food Bank. It is the primary food bank for northern Toronto, distributing over 2.3 million pounds of food in 2015 through 77 community programs. We believe in dignified food access, empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Ride for the Heart Open or Close
Lanterra Developments Ltd. has joined the Ride for Heart! Through our Get Fit, Lanterra! program, we will be getting in shape and gearing up for this great cause, with all proceeds raised going to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Please help us reach our goal of $4,000 to fund life-saving research and educate Canadians on how to live better every day.
The Ride for Heart will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2013.

Sick Kids Hospital Open or Close
Recently, we were honoured by Sick Kids Hospital with a plaque in our name, mounted on the hospital wall, for all of our charitable donations to the hospital to date. Thank you, it looks great up there!

Mount Sinai Hospital Open or Close
In August, Lanterra Developments held the Sutton Place Charity Sale, which was a huge undertaking by our dedicated staff to sell the furniture which we purchased along with the Sutton Place Hotel, the site for our latest project, The Britt Condominiums at Bay and Wellesley. After twelve days of hectic sales and countless hours of restocking, on August 23, 2012, we were extremely proud to present Mount Sinai Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a cheque in the amount of $235,000.00 for the proceeds of the sale!

The CIBC Run for the Cure Open or Close
On September 30, 2012, over twenty employees and friends came out for the annual CIBC Run for the Cure to walk 5 km in honour of women and their families who have gone through or will undergo diagnosis, treatment, survival and loss from breast cancer. Team Lanterra Developments was proud to walk for all women, and to raise over $13,000.00 by our dedicated staff, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Movember Open or Close
In November, our men banded together to form Team Lanterra Developments and raise money for the Movember Foundation, benefitting prostate cancer and men’s mental health research and treatment. The guys went all out with this one, and we are proud to say that we had some of the best looking moustaches in the city! Thanks to our Mo Growers, we were able to raise significant funds for the Movember Foundation, placing us in the top 5% of all the teams who participated in Canada, all in our first year entering!

The Daily Bread Food Bank Open or Close
For the month of December, Lanterra Developments created a fundraising and food drive in our office, with all proceeds going to The Daily Bread Food Bank. Together, we helped bring food to the tables of less fortunate families throughout the holidays and into the New Year.

Free the Children – Water Initiative, Penny Drive Open or Close
From January to April, 2013, Lanterra Developments participated in Free the Children’s Water Initiative, made possible by RBC. With the Canadian penny going out of circulation, the initiative set out to challenge Canadians to put their pennies to a good cause by donating them to the initiative. Penny bags were sent out by special order, each large enough to hold $25.00 worth in pennies – that’s 2,500 pennies per bag! Each bag represents the chance to change someone’s life forever. With the donation of each $25 penny bag, someone receives clean, fresh water for their entire lifetime! Lanterra received five of these special penny bags, and filled them all, giving five people clean water for life! We felt very honoured to be able to participate in this challenge in order to help out such a worthy cause.
