Lanterra Tour De Toronto 2020 – Cycle for a Cure

On Wednesday, August 12, Lanterra Development held its 2020 Tour de Toronto, Cycle for a Cure. Over 50 Platinum and VIP agents gathered with the goal of raising $100,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

To help everyone at home socially distance and still enjoy the event, it was livestreamed. Taylor Kaye, a radio and television personality; and the very funny duo Damnit Mauri and Shem, from the Roz and Mocha Show, hosted the livestream. It began at 2:30 at Notting Hill as the riders gathered before the official 3:00 start time.

While our riders were diligently biking across the city, viewers enjoyed the inspiring and soulful music of Sole Power Live as they performed multiple times throughout the livestream. Fresh off singing the anthem for the Blue Jays game the night before, they sounded fantastic. Viewers were also serenaded by Pat Smith and Kyle Winjack as they played a duet on their saxophone and trumpet. Acoustic and electric violinist, Seraphina Violin, played an energetic song at Sugar Beach.

The Tour de Toronto was a great way to showcase how Lanterra’s projects tie into the city’s bike infrastructure as the agents biked along a 22 km trail. They started at Notting Hill, continued along the Humber Trail, and eventually rode on the Mark Goodman Trail. At the end, everyone gathered for a break and a little socially-distanced fun at 31 Parliament.

Don’t worry—our agents had a chance to attend 5 cycling clinics before the race date to help prepare for the ride. There was also a shorter, fairly flat 8 km route starting at Coronation Park for beginners so everyone could enjoy the fun and raise money for a great cause. The Livestream featured tips for people who are interested in learning to ride a bike but may be afraid of biking in a large city like Toronto. Tips included picking a time that isn’t busy to get out and ride, planning a route in advance, staying vigilant, and—the big one—relax and have fun!

Livestream viewers had another reason to celebrate. Throughout the livestream, special codes were offered for promotions and early access to Lanterra’s projects. A limited number of the promotions were availab

le to viewers who emailed the code to Lanterra. Once-in-a-lifetime promotions were offered for  Notting Hill, 50 Scollard, 31 Parliament, Artist Alley, and Teahouse Condominiums at 501 Yonge Street. Lanterra made this a must-watch event so keep watching next summer for the next Tour de Toronto’s date.

Taylor Kaye also offered codes throughout the livestream for a chance to win $500 gift certificates for La Bicicleta. It gave viewers an extra incentive to pick up a new bike and explore Toronto’s beautiful bike trails for themselves.

When our bikers arrived, tired but happy, at 31 Parliament, they were greeted with a performance by Sole Power Live. There was time to have a bite to eat, have a socially-distanced party, and listen to Toronto Mayor John Tory say a few words about Toronto’s great and expanding cycling infrastructure.

To celebrate continued sales throughout COVID-19, Lanterra awarded Lucy Liu and Gilbert Wang; P.K. Sabharwal and Saurabh Sabharwal; and Abhinav Arya the COVID Crusher Award. Lanterra offered agents an incentive by donating $1,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society per unit sold in Notting Hill since the beginning of July—donating an extra $65,000 to the Tour de Toronto’s total!

In the end, riders enjoyed a sunny, gorgeous day of exploring the City’s bike trails along the path of many Lanterra projects. Better yet, $145,000 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society. The cheque was presented to Dr. Stuart Edmonds, the Executive Vice President of the Canadian Cancer Society.
