Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square

Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square opened its doors five years ago in November 2010. Combining the boisterous energy of Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment, with the subtle elegance the boutique Le Germain hotel brand, in the bustling south core area of Toronto.

With the Air Canada Centre connected next door and the Rogers Centre minutes away, the hotel looked to design and art to bring sports elements into the boutique hotel. The lobby and public spaces maximized on the sports excitement, with LED lighting design that changes to blue during a Leafs game, or red for a Raptors game. However, once guests go past the lobby and into the elevators, the hotel has a more subtle approach to the sports theme. In the guestrooms, black and white photos of athletes taken by photographer Matthew Plexman adorn the walls, while a round black ottoman was inspired by a hockey puck.

Paul de la Durantaye is the general manager of the Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square, and has over 20 years in the hotel industry.  He spends his day making rounds to every department and making sure staff and guests are satisfied. “If you’re just in office looking at numbers you’re going to lose the pulse on what’s going on,” he says. Customer service is a key aspect for the hotel, and de la Durantaye credits their small size for the ability to serve their guests with an individualized experience.

De la Durantaye also highlights the area’s prime location and exit off the Gardiner expressway and steps away from Union Station to be a convenience for corporate clients as well.

De la Durantaye describes his vision for the hotel: “As the neighbourhood continues to grow, we become the central point. Not only the business, but for leisure, like coming down for an event at the Rogers Centre. Being the hub of that balance between the sports aspect of it, but also being known as the place to be when there’s an event here in the south core.”

Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square is pleased to offer ICE residents with a special discount promotion. In addition, Le Germain Hotel Toronto Maple Leaf Square is the ONLY hotel in Toronto that has special packages for Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors tickets. For every game, they have an availability of guest rooms including two tickets to a game, breakfast, parking and preferred access to the immensely popular Real Sports Bar before or after the game.
